Bounce Away the Rainy Day Blues: A Guide to Using Inflatables Indoors

Bounce away the rainy day blues with Blast Zone!
Bounce away the rainy day blues!

Rain, Rain, Go Away. Or stay all day, we’ll still get to play! This is the cheer you’d hear if you had an inflatable. We get asked all the time, “can you put a bounce house inside?” The answer to that question is a resounding “Yes!”

Gone are the days where a rainy day meant kids sat at the window, watching listlessly as the rain poured down outside. We live in an age where modern homes are equipped with indoor entertainment. Television and video games may pass the time, but they don’t leave much room for expression. A mind is a terrible thing to waste. While consumable media may be a quick and easy means to an end, getting kids up and playing is an end in itself.

Children can sit for hours without realizing that there is rain falling outside because they are tuned into their screens and tuned out of the world around them. This is no way to sharpen their minds. As the rain starts to roll in, what kids need is true interactivity. If you give kids something awesome to play with, they will create a narrative to go along with it. They don’t need to be spoon fed a storyline the way they are with television or video games. They have the gift of imagination, something that many adults don’t have.

When people think of bouncers, they think birthday parties or community events. These are the bouncers of the past. Today, Blast Zone inflatables come in a wide range of shapes and sizes that allow for a multitude of different uses. One of the many uses being bouncing around at home. Maybe it’s rainy outside, or maybe it’s too hot to play outside safely. Weather conditions definitely play a big role when considering using an inflatable indoors, but perhaps the weather isn’t the reason. You don’t need any reason in particular to set up inside, all you need is a little space.

Rainy days are better with bouncers… Inflatables offer more creative freedom than TV or Video Games…

Making Space

When you’re considering setting up your inflatable indoors or thinking of purchasing a bouncer to be used inside, the first thing to consider is location. Where will you be setting your inflatable up? In a playroom? A basement? Living room? There are no rules! Just be sure to measure your area before hand to ensure that you have the space. We typically recommend at least one foot of extra space on either side of the inflatable to provide a little bit of wiggle room. Even when they are anchored, bouncers tend to move around a bit when they are in use.

In addition to the wiggle room allowed on each side, keep in mind that the blower attaches in the back of most inflatables (though some inflatables feature the blower attachment on the side). You should allow five to six feet of room behind the inflatable for the blower. When you’ve figured out how much available space that you have indoors, compare that with the measurements of the inflatable on our website. The Magic Castle and the Little Bopper are both compact favorites for indoor use.

You can find the inflated dimensions for each item in the “specs” section of the product page. Alternately, you may contact the Blast Zone support team for that information by calling 877-889-4685. Keep in mind that the dimensions on the site cover the inflatable, but you will want to add the additional 1 foot of space for each side plus the 6 feet of space for the blower when determining the fit.

Anchoring

Once you’ve determined where you will set up your inflatable and which bouncer is going to be the best fit for you, it’s time to set up. When setting up an inflatable, the primary concern is safety. Always make sure that your inflatable is properly anchored. When you’re using your inflatable in the grass, you can anchor it using the yellow anchoring stakes but on solid surfaces such as carpet you will need to anchor using weight.

Sandbags for indoor anchoring can purchased for a discounted price when they are added on with the purchase of an inflatable. Our sandbags can be filled with about 25 lbs of sand per each bag. You may not know how to anchor a bounce house indoors, but its as easy as connecting your bounce house to the easy-to-use sandbags.

Rain got you down? Bounce inside!
Rain got you down? Bounce inside!

Placement

Now that you’ve got your inflatable in it’s place and you’ve anchored your inflatable, you can finish setting up. You may have noticed that your setup instructions warn against setting inflatables up on carpet. The general reason for this is to keep you mindful of the surface that you are setting up on. Some carpeted surfaces can be very hard, such as industrial carpeting without padding, but most homes use a standard type of carpeting that is much softer. The main point of the precaution is to advise against using on hard surfaces.

If you feel you’d like additional padding around the entry way, you can also place a blanket, folded or otherwise, to your liking, underneath the entry ramp. Generally, we advise the use of common-sense safety practices at all times.  If your location seems unsafe for any reason, do not set up your inflatable there!  This would include very hard surfaces, area rugs that are not secured onto the flooring, obstructions, cramped spaces, etc.

Save your furniture from becoming a jungle gym!

Ready, Set, Bounce!

That’s it. You’re ready to have some fun. Simply attach and turn on the included blower and you’ll have an indoor bounce center right there in your own home! If you’ve found a dedicated spot for your inflatable such as a playroom, you can leave your inflatable there between uses. Simply switch off the blower and let it deflate until the next use. If you’re using common living areas for temporary bouncing, you can fold it up when you’re done and store it in a closet or under the bed. It fits neatly into the included storage bag so you don’t have to think about it when it is not being used.

Rainy days don’t have to put a damper on the fun, and your little ones can keep moving even when outdoor play is not possible. Kids get to expend some of that boundless energy, flex their mind-muscles and your furniture maintains its appropriate use instead of becoming a rainy day jungle gym. With indoor bouncing, everyone wins!

Recap:

  • Rainy days are better with bouncers
  • Inflatables offer more creative freedom than TV or Video Games
  • A wide selection means there is a bouncer to fit in most homes
  • Weighted anchoring and soft carpet surfaces allow children to bounce indoors safely
  • Having a bouncer means your furniture won’t become a jungle gym

Mail Zone: Differences Between Commercial Grade and Home Use Inflatables

Deborah Asks:

Is the pirate blaster commercial? How do I know if an item is commercial grade? I run a social kids fund at our campground and I am interested in a commercial water slide.

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

The Pirate Blaster is not a commercial grade item. It is a home-use item and is not designed for commercial use. You can view this item and its current pricing by viewing the item on BlastZone.com.

You can typically tell if an item is commercial grade because it will have the word “commercial” in the name. Another indication when browsing the Blast Zone website, is that the commercial items will be categorized in the commercial section of our site. There is also a price difference between home use and commercial grade, this is because there are several differences between these two categories. While home use products are designed for personal use, commercial inflatables are designed for business applications such as party rentals or summer camps.
Our commercial inflatables come with a longer warranty than our home use products, are constructed of heavy duty commercial grade materials, and feature higher weight capacities. While we don’t have the exact model you were interested in available in commercial grade, we do have a selection of commercial grade water inflatables that would likely suit your needs.

Tiffany Asks:

Is the home warranty for 1 year or 2 years? What is the 2 Year Promise?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Blast Zone home-use products come with a 1-year limited warranty. This warranty protects against defects in material and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. The 2-year promise is a program allows us to stand by our products even after the 1-year warranty period has ended.

In a nutshell, the 2-Year Promise provides an option to buy a very heavily discounted replacement product for up to 2 years after the date of purchase. If you choose to replace your Blast Zone Residential Inflatable within a two year period from the original date of purchase, after the full Limited warranty period for reasons detailed on our 2-Year Promise page, Blast Zone will replace your inflatable with the same unit or a similar unit of your choosing, without the blower, at a discount of 50% off of the non-sale, non-discounted retail price listed at blastzone.com at the time of claim.

For more details on the 1-Year limited warranty or the 2-Year Promise, please visit the “Info” tab on blastzone.com where we provide everything you need to know in detail.

double blower bounce house

Mail Zone Q&A (September 2nd, 2015)

profile-icon-girl

Stephanie Comments:

Inflating is easy and effortless but deflating takes some time and patience. It would be easier if blower worked as a deflater as well to make take down just as effortless as set up.

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Including and offering deflators are things we have considered in the past.  We have, in fact, offered deflators for sale for our commercial inflatables, but we currently do not.  We found that while there is a demand for a deflation device, they just don’t work as expected in the real world,  and don’t meet the level of satisfaction our customers deserve and expect from us.

The primary reason we found the deflators ineffective in deflating commercial inflatables is that the vinyl material sucks onto the inlet of the deflator, restricting airflow, and rendering it useless.  For commercial inflatables, we found the strategy of adding larger, strategically placed deflation “zippers” to be much more effective.

This comment was actually pertaining to home use inflatables.  Unfortunately the issues with commercial deflators would be even worse with home use inflatables, due to the pliability of the material (which is even more pliable than the commercial vinyl), and even more propensity for the Bounce House or Inflatable Water Park to suck onto the inlet nozzle of the deflator and create a frustrating mess.  Additionally, the configuration required for the blower to double as a deflator makes shipping impractical and restricts the inbound airflow to the inflatable during normal fan operation while the inflatable toy is in use.  So this is a great idea, but something we are unable to offer in a fashion that would meet the satisfaction levels we expect for our customers.

Jarika Asks:

Does the Shark Park come with balls?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Adding Play Balls to your Blast Zone Inflatable is a great way to add extra fun to the party.  Some Blast Zone items even have Ball Pits built in.  Yet we don’t include balls with any Blast Zone Inflatables.

shark_park_1669_detail

Why Not!?

Simple: To offer our inflatables at the highest value and lowest entry cost possible.   Blast Zone Sells the inflatable (Including Blower) at the lowest entry cost.  Then we leave the option to buy Play Balls up to you, rather than bundling them into a higher-priced offering.  However, if balls are purchased as an optional add on with your Blast Zone Bounce House or Inflatable Water Park at the time of purchase, the Balls are discounted.  Balls are also discounted further as you buy more.

As a simple add-on, 150 balls are usually sufficient.  For products with Ball Pits built-in, most customers report purchasing around 600 balls.

Matt Asks:

What is the max CFM for the Superstar Inflatable, it comes a 600 CFM blower and there are two ports in the back can you hook up a second blower or a bigger blower?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

We’re not going to jump into detailed specs here. What is worth noting, however, is the second part of the question, “there are two ports in the back can you hook up a second blower or a bigger blower.”

One should never need to attempt to hook a second blower to any Blast Zone Home use inflatable.  The 2 tubes mentioned refer to (1) the longer inflation tube, and (2) a short “quick deflation” tube, which is to remain shut during use.  We mean it.  That’s why “Tie Shut During Use” is printed on the deflation tube!

double air blower bounce house
Make Sure to Tie the 2nd Tube Shut During Use!

Every Blast Zone Inflatable Bounce House and Water Park is engineered to a specific blower, and that blower provides the necessary air flow for the listed user capacity.

labor day bbq blastzone

Throw an Incredible Labor Day BBQ

how-to-labor-day-bbq
Squeeze the last bit of fun out of your summer.

When you have a family, you have a million-and-one things going through your head at any given time. During the summer it can get especially hectic. The kids are on break from school, the days are longer, and the heat can drive everyone a little mad. Every now and then, it’s nice to plan something fun that everyone can enjoy. This is where BBQ’s come in.  Between getting your family dressed and fed each morning and hoping they’ve had a long enough day to sleep through the night, planning a BBQ is not always the easiest thing to accomplish. Don’t panic! We’re here to help. This guide will help you to plan an amazing end-of-summer BBQ that will make your neighbors wish they were invited.

Food

grilled-veggies-labor-day-bbq
Mmm. Grilled veggies.

When you’re planning a BBQ, the first thing that comes to mind is food. This is where we sometimes find ourselves stuck. A BBQ is all about the food. Your first mission is deciding what to serve. While making your decision on what to serve at your BBQ, think about your guests. Do any of your invited guests have a special diet or any food allergies to consider? Gluten free? Low Carb? Paleo? Vegetarian? The possibilities seem endless. All diets and special lifestyles can be accommodated for a BBQ, you just want to make sure that you will have something for everyone.

This also goes for kids. Do you have any picky eaters coming over? When entertaining, it’s always a great idea to have a few kid-friendly food items. Some kids love adventurous foods. Some kids will eat things like teriyaki chicken kebabs or spicy grilled pineapple, but many kids do better with very simple foods. Hamburgers or hot dogs are usually fail proof when it comes to kids.

At a BBQ, the meat is usually the main event. Go for quality over variety. Rather than having several options, decide on one or two different things to serve as the main dish, like pork sausage and classic BBQ chicken. This gives people choices without breaking the bank or requiring the use of multiple grills. Some other great and simple options would be meat and veggie kebabs, ribs, or keep it classic and serve up hamburgers and hot dogs for all!

Hors d’oeuvres, sides and desserts are also just as important to a BBQ as the main course. They help to balance out your meal and provide color to your table. Both are very important elements to hosting an unforgettable BBQ. Make your big day as relaxing as possible by preparing your side dishes and desserts the day before. When deciding on what to serve keep in mind that on a summer day, cold dishes go best with foods coming hot-off-the-grill. Using the freshest ingredients you can find will make even the simplest salad go off the charts in flavor.

Entertainment

blastzone-big-ol-bouncer-bbq-fun
Blast Zone “Big Ol Bouncer” Bounce house will keep the kids out of your hair.

When you’re hosting a BBQ you may be busy flipping food on the grill, but there will always be time to take a breather. Even if you are keeping yourself busy, keep your guests in mind. You’ve invited them over, and should have some form of entertainment planned. Music is definitely a must to fill up any awkward silences or lulls in conversation.

If your back yard BBQ turns into a dance party, you’ve gotten very lucky! Just in case that doesn’t happen, have something fun available to your guests like games or even a few packs of playing cards. Don’t be too rigid when it comes to entertaining your guests. You will probably find that the adults at your party will entertain themselves by chatting with you or other guests. Because we never see our family and friends as often as we’d like, catch-up is usually one of the best games to play over a delicious BBQ dinner.

While we’re talking about entertainment, let us not forget about the kiddos! You have a few goals when it comes to kids. Keep them busy, give them options and let them have their space (this means the grown-ups get their space as well). With kids, you want to keep them busy because if they aren’t off doing their own thing, they might be looking for ways to entertain themselves. This can be dangerous around a fiery grill and possibly annoying to some of your guests. Having multiple options will come in handy because not all kids are the same, and they may not all be interested in the same activity.

Further, some children might find a given activity fun for a short time, but wind up feeling bored later. This is especially possible if your BBQ is going to be an all-day affair. Set up an area stocked with coloring books or arts and crafts, as well as interactive toys or areas to play sports and burn off some of that energy that we wish we could borrow as adults.

Inflatables are a great idea for BBQs. They give kids the freedom to bounce or slide all day long. If you have a lot of kids to entertain, the Big Ol’ Bouncer is a great choice as one of our biggest home-use bounce houses. You might have a hard time getting them out of the inflatable at the end of the evening, but getting them to sleep that night will be a breeze. Read our helpful guides to keep the kids safe when playing together on our bounce houses.

Having all of this set aside in a designated area will not only make clean up easier, it also allows you to designate the best area for them, keeping them far from areas that may not be appropriate. You don’t want kids suffering the blinding burn of BBQ smoke blowing right into their eyes, or eating up all of the strawberries you’ve spent the summer growing. This also gives kids the opportunity to mingle on their own and maybe make some new friends. A lot of kids like to be independent, and having their own space to play allows them to decide what they want to do with their time at your BBQ.

Timing

blastzone-labor-day-bbq-grill
Man look at all the steam. It’s hot in there!

With your food and entertainment all planned out, your final concern is with Timing. Making sure that the day unfolds smoothly isn’t as hard as it may seem. You can plan your backyard seating and prepare most of your cooking the day before. Put your meats in their marinades and prepare your hors d’oeuvres, sides, and desserts in advance, to be refrigerated until it’s time to eat. On the big day, get your tables and chairs set up out back and roll out your inflatable if you will be using one. Getting your inflatable set up earlier in the day allows you to get it going for the kids with the flip of a switch. You can roll it out flat, stake it down and attach the blower so that when your guests arrive, you can simply turn on the blower to start the fun.

Get your grill started before your guests are set to arrive, so that you can socialize and get your guests situated while it heats up. If you are cooking your meats low and slow, start early enough that you can serve up dinner BBQ about 45 minutes to an hour after guests arrive. This gives everyone time to transition from go-mode to relaxation mode. This is important for guests who have to make a long or inconvenient trip to your home. It allows everyone to get comfortable as well as ensuring that no one misses the boat if they are running a little late for any reason. Now that you’ve got everything mapped out, it’s time to enjoy the day. Eat and socialize and enjoy the warm weather, these moments are memories in the making.

Jill Asks:

I have been thinking of starting an inflatable slide and bounce house business and wonder what insurance I would need to cover liability when they are being rented out?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Hello,Properly insuring your business is obviously important. You will be seeking liability insurance to cover your business and patrons. You may start by asking your current carrier to provide this sort of general business liability insurance, or look to a specialized company for your insurance needs. Inflatable Insurance may alternately be referred to as “amusement insurance” or “ride insurance” depending on your locale. You can typically get inflatable insurance with varying degrees of coverage depending on your needs or the size of your operation, and some plans are quite affordable.

Rates may depend on your projected revenue, number of inflatables bouncers, slides, obstacles, etc in your inventory, and a number of other factors. The company will also ask you to register the specific serial numbers of the commercial inflatable devices, in order to cover those specific inflatables. Make sure you are purchasing your inflatable from a reputable inflatable manufacturer, who follows serialization. Blast Zone Commercial Inflatables have the serial number on the front label. If you are in the process of purchasing a Blast Zone Commercial Inflatable, we can provide you the serial number at the time of shipping. If your device does not have a serial number, it is not ASTM compliant, and insurers will likely not insure it, so this is critical to running your business legally and successfully.

Blast Zone does not recommend any specific providers, but below are some resources from whom some of our customers have obtained insurance. Your local carrier may also be able to provide insurance.

Can I use my inflatables if it’s over 90 degrees?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

bounce house heat temperature

Here’s the logic behind this question:  Blast Zone instructional materials mention not to use inflatables in direct sunlight over 90 degrees.  This is to keep the surfaces from getting too hot, just like a park slide or blacktop becomes in high heat, and applies mostly to dry inflatable products or wet/dry Inflatables being used dry.  However, there are a number of ways to ensure surfaces don’t get too hot, even in higher heat.

Water Parks.  Water parks are obviously popular on hot days, so it would be a shame not to use them when Mr Sun is really pumping out the heat.  By running the water in your Inflatable Water Park, the surfaces will stay much cooler, so just  check surface temps with your hand once in awhile to make sure nothing is getting uncomfortably hot.

Shade.  By Setting your inflatable up in the shade, surface temperatures should not become such an issue.  Feel for hot surfaces the same as noted above.

Wet towels.  If a surface is becoming too warm, keep a wet towel on hand, and towel off the surface to cool it down.  In this case, surfaces can still heat up pretty quickly.  This typically applies to bouncers.

Even with these recommendations, it is the adult’s responsibility to make sure surfaces do not become too hot, which is possible in high heat.  If they feel too hot, even if you towel them off, kids should go do something else.

And remember, even in a cool water park, it’s easy to become dehydrated on hot days, so make sure kids and adults have plenty of water to drink!

Have a Blast!

Question: when my 141lb daughter goes on the slide, it sinks. is this because the product is not fully inflated or because it can not support the weight exceeding 100lb?

I’m thrilled to have received my bounce house today. I have this located in an indoor children play room. We will use the bounce house once a week for about 4 hours a week. Should I store away the bounce house after every use even though its indoors?
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks, Abby

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Hi Abegail,

The main reason we ask users to store the inflatable after each use is to keep it away from the elements:  Sprinklers, Rain, Snow, Hurricanes, Dogs, Bears,  Lawnmowers, etc.  We are assuming that you have few, if any of those in your play room.  If you do, you may need a roofer, gardener or animal control personnel to swing by.

protecting bounce house indoors

Anyways… Because you will be keeping your item indoors, you do not need to worry about storing it after each use. As long as it is being kept inside, away from moisture and direct sunlight you will be fine just letting it deflate at the end of the day.  Of course you’ll want to turn the blower off, and move it out of the way if it’s in an area you use.  A lot of indoor bounce facilities just turn all their blowers off for the night, lock up and turn them back on the next day!  Now if you have kids that play in that play room like some of us here do, they’ll want you to turn it on all the time when they see it, and very likely will turn it on themselves, so consider that when planning a safe play room.

I will like to know if i could build my own?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Hi Greicy,

Pardon us if you were planning to build your own inflatable from scratch… we don’t think you should try that route!

As far as customizing – There are a number of manufacturers that build custom inflatables to suit, but we do not.  Custom inflatable Bounce Houses, Slides, Obstacles, Etc will obviously be a bit costly, and take awhile to produce.  We stock our inflatables, to get them to our customers as soon as possible.  People often ask us why our Commercial Inflatables are priced so aggressively.  Part of the reason is that we mass produce our inflatables using a production line approach.  We will produce a batch of inflatables, which are cut with a special machine, so all of the patterns are identical, then assembled in steps, where each technician is responsible for a very specific part of the assembly process.  This helps us increase efficiency in inflatable production, and ensures the inflatables are consistent from one Bounce House to the next.

building a bounce house

What we do, however, is take customer feedback and ideas into account for producing future models.  See our piece on the newly released Rocket Racer 3 for some insight into how we use customer feedback to improve and create products.

Anon (interesting yet common name!) Asks:

Hi, can this be used by a child heavier than the individual max weight?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Hi,

This question pertained specifically to a Home Use Inflatables.  We don’t recommend our home-use Bounce Houses and Inflatable Slides for any user over 100 lbs. A couple smaller products have a limit of 75 Lbs, but these are designed and fun for smaller kids, and would’t be attractive to kids bigger than that.   User limits are based on several engineering factors, including: strength of the blower and the strength of the material.

Blast Zone Inflatables come with a max user limit, a weight-per-user limit, as well as a gross weight limit (combined weight of all players).  Sometimes the Gross limit is less than the calculation of max users x max user weight.  For example an inflatable may say 6 users at 100 lbs each, but have a max gross weight of 500 lbs.  This is because each recommendation is based on different factors.  The max user count is based on space, while the others are usually based on structural recommendations.  So in the above example, there could be 4 users at 80 lbs, and 2 users at 90 lbs, for a total weight 500 and total count of 6, but is not recommend for 6 users at 100 lbs each.

weight limit bounce house

Blast Zone Commercial Inflatables often accommodate users up to 250 lbs, however.  While we understand that these are not typically suitable for home buyers, due to cost, we wanted to point out that these commercial inflatables are engineered for larger users.  Users must still follow guidelines on evenly matching players on these inflatables though.

Pirate Blaster Inflatable Water Park.
Question: Just wondering about taking this down & storing it. Is it possible for 1 person to get it back into the storage bag/container that it comes with & what are the dimensions of that? Thanks so much!

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Hi Christi,

It is definitely possible for one adult to store the Inflatable Water Park on their own, but it is also much easier to store it with help.  Specifically, the product you ask about, the Pirate Blaster Inflatable Water Park, is one of Blast Zone’s larger Inflatables.

During the drying process, it is best to turn it over to allow the bottom to dry out, which is easier with 2 people.  Fully drying the water park is critical, as we discussed in our last Mail Zone post.  Drying it will make it much lighter, and more manageable, and also keep mildew from developing.

Once the Inflatable Water Park is dry, it will be folded first lengthwise, then folded or rolled like a big sleeping bag.  Because this product is large, and will likely be about twice the size of a sleeping bag or so, moving it can then be tedious.  Some people just use a wagon or wheelbarrow to move it around.  It will be over 50lbs, and a bit cumbersome, so it may be easier for some adults to handle than others.  We also offer more compact units like the Spray N Splash 2, which are easier to handle.  If you are intent on the bouncer function, you might even consider a smaller slide, and a bouncer separately.  This way, you will not always have the water to deal with as well.

Great question, and one we get a lot.  The answer is, yes, you can definitely disable the cannon to save water.  There are 3 way to easily disable it, choose any of which work for you.  We’ll go in order of simplicity:

  1. The easiest way is just to unscrew the attachment to the cannon, bend the hose over, and zip-tie it shut.  The tubes are flexible, so this is really easy to do.
  2. Next up, you can buy a “Hose Plug” for about $1 from your local hardware store, and screw it into the female hose fitting, where the cannon hooks to the main sprayer system.  This is the easiest to “do and undo” if you want to use the cannon later.
  3. You can purchase a 3/8″ insert ball valve, and install that in-line before the sprayer system.  This will allow you to permanently toggle the cannon on and off, as needed.

None of these will void your warranty, so have at it!

We have written a detailed guide including photos of the entire process for you to read here: Guide: How to Turn Off Blastzone Water Cannon

Kross Asks:

does it come with a blower to blow in the air because we don”t have one?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

Hi Kross,

All Blast Zone Inflatables come with the appropriate blower that is engineered to the inflatable.  We do not recommend using any other blowers, as each Blast Zone Bounce House and Water Park is specifically engineered to the inflatable it comes with.

Home Use Inflatables come with the blower included in the main shipping carton, while commercial Inflatable Blowers ship in a separate box.

Jenn Asks:

Has anyone had any problems with the bounce house molding when used with water? How do you avoid this?

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

First, a technicality:  Blast Zone Bounce Houses are not specifically designed for use with water, and water should be avoided, unless the product is specifically designed for wet use.  If there is not a sprayer system included with the inflatable, the product is not meant to be wet.

Now onto mildew:  Blast Zone Inflatables don’t ship to you with mold, mildew or spores.  However, these issues that exist in certain areas can be problematic if the Inflatable is not thoroughly dried.  Mildew is prevalent in the most humid climates.  Mildew is unsightly, and can erode material over time.  The way to avoid problems with mildew is to thoroughly dry the water park between uses. Unfortunately, the same issues that cause mildew  also cause the water parks to be more difficult to dry.    The carrying case included with your Blast Zone Inflatable Water Park has openings in it to allow moisture to dissipate, however, it is imperative for the owner to dry and care for the Inflatable Water Park properly.

To “clean” mildew, as soon as you see any developing, wash the area with dish soap and water, dry it, and allow exposure to sun.

The simplest approach to avoiding mildew:  Keep it Clean and Dry!

Kristen Asks:

We unpacked bounce house christmas day we set it up and is leaking air inside by seams.

blastzone-max-icon-2

Blast Zone:

We get this a lot, and the answer is very simple:  Your Blast Zone Bounce House or Inflatable Water Park, and basically every constant-air type inflatable in existence, anywhere, ever, is specifically designed to release air through the seams.  To clarify, Blast Zone Inflatables are meant to leak.  We print this in product literature, and on products, but we understand the the concept that the product is supposed to leak in hundreds, if not thousands of places is foreign to many people who are not familiar with constant-air inflatables.  Don’t worry about it!

When kids jump and slide on Blast Zone Inflatables, the pressure increases tremendously for brief moments.  It’s kind of like squeezing a water ballon.  You squeeze one end, and all the water moves to the another area.  However, unlike the balloon, which will pop if you squeeze too hard, our Inflatables also release that pressure through the seams and blower.

This is where the concept of constant inflation comes into play.  The blower runs at all times during play, providing a fresh supply of air to the Inflatable Product.  As the kids jump and slide, and pressure spikes, pressure is then released momentarily through the seams and back through the blower, and then instantly is replaced with fresh air form the blower.  This is most obvious when kids are jumping, but even with the inflatable empty, you’ll hear the seams whistling.

Jen Asks:

Hi,
What is the difference between the Big ol bounce house and the super star bounce house?
I am having a party for several 3-5 year olds this summer, and want to be able to have a bouncer there!
Thanks!

Blast Zone:

Great question!  The answer is nothing! 😉

This is obviously not the full story.  These products have a much different look, but are structurally identical.  The Superstar Inflatable Party Moonwalk was first to market, and had a lot of success, so a retailer asked us to make a variation for their stores, the Big Ol Bouncer.  While the Big Ol Bouncer was essentially a color-variation, at that time we had started manufacturing with a new type of stronger material, that allowed us to recommend the Big Ol Bouncer for an additional user.  At the same time, we also started manufacturing the Superstar Moonwalk with the new, stronger materials, so while today both are made with the upgraded materials, we did not go back retroactively and change the recommendation on the Superstar.

Some people prefer the Colorful Theme of the Superstar, while others prefer the more subtle look of the Big Ol Bouncer.  Either way, both products are of equal size and quality standards.
